The ability to attract your ideal client comes down to 3 factors. Creating an ideal client persona so you can clearly define your ideal client, researching and refining so you can validate your own beliefs and theories and finally marketing effectively to your ideal client.
Your ideal client is a combination of who you enjoy working with (or feel called to work with), who is in need of your services or product, who will find the most benefit from your service/product + who can afford and is willing to pay for your services or product.
Here’s how to attract your ideal client to grow your business.
Clarify your ideal client
Start by clearly defining your ideal client by creating an ideal client persona. An ideal client persona is essentially an ‘imaginary’ client in which you refer back to whenever decisions surrounding your ideal client arise. This ‘persona’ becomes your reference point and is built based on your thoughts & additional research about your dream clients.
You’ll be able to ask your persona, ‘what do you think of *blank*’, ‘would you like *blank*’ etc, etc. If they approve, then it’s a green light to move forward. If you feel as if they wouldn’t like it or it wouldn’t translate well, then you move on.
A persona is also a lense in which to see your business through. We often get caught up in how our business looks from the inside out, a persona can get you to step outside of your business and look at it from an outside perspective and more importantly, your dream clients perspective. This helps you be more strategic, effective, efficient so you can grow and scale your business.
Research & Refine
Because there are multiple factors, experimenting + research is key to truly defining your ideal client! Take time to do A/B testing, get feedback, work with different people + clients, take on different jobs, try out different services all in order to find that beautiful space where it all aligns. Also, reach out to real people & real potential ideal clients in order to verify and validate your ideas and thoughts.
A few place you can do research are:
- Facebook groups
- Insta/Social Media Polls
- Past Clients
- Competitors
Questions to ask when interviewing:
- Could you tell me about your biggest problems in relation to _____?
- Why is it important for you to solve this problem?
- What do you think is the biggest benefit from solving this problem?
- If you were creating a dream solution, would you like to see?
Market your business
Now that you’ve clearly defined and researched your ideal client – go market your business!! Create captivating messages & content, package your products and services, create offerings, promote within groups, etc. that your ideal client want to see!
You’ll be positioning yourself as an expert within your industry because you’re creating and sharing content that your clients want to see. You’re marketing will become more effective since it’s targeting the correct people. You’ll being seeing that you’re attracting dream clients with ease.
Knowing who your ideal client is allows you to be more strategic, effective & efficient with your business overall. By actually know who your ideal client is and researching & refining – you actually know where to market, how to create content that they want to see and ultimately attract them as real clients so you can grow your business!
