Shopify allows CBD product sales

Business

If you’re in the CBD industry, you’ve probably come across the issue of being kicked out of your online shop + really not being able to sell anywhere. As someone who lives in Colorado, CBD or hemp products are pretty much everywhere. Now, I’m not gonna lie, I don’t know too much about the innerworkings of the industry but I’ve had some CBD snacks (which my mom now loves) + tried a topical (which helped). All of which I purchased from the local Sprouts grocery store. However, the bigger issue + struggle for small business owners trying to get in on this market (like, HUGE market) was they couldn’t legally sell it online. Until now! The latest this week is Shopify now allows for CBD product sales.

what is shopify?

In case you don’t know what Shopify is, I’ll briefly explain. Shopify is a website platform for creating websites to sell your products AKA open up your online shop. But until, like now, you weren’t legally allowed to sell you CBD products on there. (again, for legal reasons I don’t 100% understand) Luckily, now you can.

visit Shopify

Yes, Shopify now allows CBD product sales!

Which isn’t 100% that surprising. The CBD industry is expectant to be a multi-billion (yes, with a B) industry and I can assure you, Shopify doesn’t want to miss out. The main issue before wasn’t necessarily with Shopify, more with the payment processors. But now, Shopify allows CBD product sales within the US.

Here are a few tips before you get started in launching your new CBD shop.

1 | Do your research

First and foremost, do extensive research. If you’re hiring a designer  to build your website, make sure they’ve done their research as well. Do your best to know the ins + outs of the products, your ingredients + online shop policies.

2 | Consult a lawyer

Again, the CBD industry is still new, with new laws or thoughts about laws coming up often. It’s important to consult a lawyer about your business, set up your business properly + continue to protect yourself + gain knowledge on your products. Even with the research I did, there’s a ton I don’t know. Make sure you’re talking to someone who does.

Although there’s always a possibility for change within the CBD industry, for now, it’s been a good week. I’ve seen a lot of women with great ideas for the CBD on Facebook groups but were struggling on how to sell them once they were created. Hopefully now that Shopify is on board, it will become a lot easier for you!
