In today’s website quick tip, I’m diving into how to add external links to your blog posts or throughout your website in general. And, most importantly, the quick tip on how to make sure you don’t lose your website visitor in the process.
What’s an external link?
An external link is essentially anything that linked outside of your website. For example, if you have a source link that you have to share, that link will make a visitor leave your site in order to go to the sources page. I use external links all the time throughout my blog posts + even on my website when I’m sharing about my side projects, MVW + Techommend. (Those were 2 external links righ there!). Adding external links also helps you out when it comes to SEO.Quick tip:
Anytime you add an external link, make sure you select the ‘open in new tab’ or ‘open in new window’ option. By doing so, your website visitor won’t be directed away from your page but rather have the linked page opened in a new tab or window. That way, people don’t accidently forget to go back to your website. So make sure you select the ‘open in new tab’ option + keep your visitors from forgetting your own website!LEAVE A COMMENT!
