Why you need an email opt-in on your website

One of the most common questions I get as a web designer, is what should I include on my website? The first thing I say is an email opt-in. Email opt-ins are a necessity if you want to succeed in your business, both online and brick and mortar businesses. Here’s the top reasons why you need an email opt-in on your website.

1. People don’t buy on the first visit

Approximately 96% of visitors won’t make a purchase on their first visit to your website, according to Hubspot. This means getting their email in order to keep in touch with them after they leave your site is crucial. You want to make sure you’re capturing their emails, through an email opt-in, so you can build a relationship. If you don’t have an email opt-in on your website, then you’re losing potential customers.

2. Build a relationship + long term trust

Growing an email list and building a relationship with your subscribers is a long term game but it allows yout to gain the biggest seller… trust! Whether you’re providing product information, new blog posts, inspirational + motivational emails or a little bit of everything, you’re building trust with your subscribers. When it comes time to promote your product or service, your subscribers will be more likely to buy since they trust you!

3. Stay top of mind

Once someone leaves your website, they are more than likely to forget about you all together. I mean, we’ve all got lives to live right? Having an email opt-in allows you to collect those emails, grow a relation and stay top of mind. If you are communicating on the regular, than the people receiving your emails will continue to remember you. Truth is, you never know when they may need your services or products, or when someone in their life may need them, this way they’ll remember your name since they see you in their inbox.

These are the top 3 reasons why you need an email opt-in on your website. You’re able to collect subscribers, build a relationship + long term trust and stay top of your customers mind. As a web designer, this is one element I always make sure to include on my clients websites. Do you have an email opt-in on your website?
