Throughout the years, we’ve seen (and built) websites that treat every section, every page, every call to action as an opportunity to convince the visitor to make a purchase or take an action. This strategy works well for many businesses. Especially those who are newly starting their journey, require educating visitors on a deeper level and those who use their website as a sales tool.
We’ve since chosen to take a different approach and lean into an essential only design philosophy.
This means we lean into whitespace, carefully curated imagery, storytelling and the removal of unnecessary noise. We emphasize restraint and clarity, giving visitors a chance to move through the site swiftly while obtaining the answers they truly need. We aim to highlight only what matters.
That can mean different journeys for different industries. For some, an address and store hours are all that’s required. Others require a space to show past work or accomplishments. We work to refine the brand story and visitors journey and showcase it through a premium lens.
This approach allows reputable, referral based brands to instill confidence and trust with visitors. Most of which are there to confirm either the work they’ve seen, that the business still exists or to inquire about getting started.
From a performance perspective, essential only design improves conversion. Fewer elements lead to improved site speed and lower bounce rates. The clarity showcased throughout the design signals confidence and the paired down content allows the visitor to move through the site quickly, getting the answers they need efficiently in order to move forward.
Choosing an essentials-only design reflects a brand's confidence in what they offer and trust in the people who seek them out. Our role is to provide those brands a space online that reflects what they've already built.
